Barbara Hashimoto: Junk Mail exhibit, having a six-month run care of The Chicago Arts District, will open its gallery doors for a reception from 6-10 PM this Friday, July 11 at 2003 S. Halsted Street, Chicago. The reception will be held during the traditional 2nd Friday Gallery Walk that has made the Art District of Pilsen famous to locals and tourists alike.

The growing body of shredded (by hand) junk mail is about to engulf the entire building. It’s unusual and spectacular to say the least. That’s why photographer Adair Sanchez stood outside (in relative safety) and began clicking away. The results where posted on his flickr photostream and then picked up by journalist Ricky Burke’s twitter, mobblogged to friends and foes alike.

The public is invited to see the Junk Mail Landscapes (guest artists Michael Kozien will present a suite of video and sound junk mail explorations), and “White Trash: Available”he Arts.
